What to look for with bar feeder

I just brought a Takisawa TC-20 which has a Fanuc 21 T controler. Also fitted is a BarTec bar feeder. As I understand it, it was all working at the last site my issue is that there are no manuals for the bar feeder and I can,t get much info fromthe previous owner as to how it was call from the program. Al I do know is that if I change tool I must start with M22, have no idea why.

Could some one offer a bit of a over view as to how bar feeder are called or programed with in the program and if possiable what I should look at in the program to find out how it was operated.
