Super CAP T&M and Super CAP II T&M

Hi guys, someone can explain what the Fanuc Super CAP T CAP II and Super T, but is no longer in use? was abandoned for the Manual Guide?
I looked older 97 programming manual , it's looks like Mazak.
It looks much better than MANULGUIDE.

    Some information??
    Someone uses it??
Fanuc CNC puts it on again?

it is a LOT better than Manual Guide. FAPT is even better. The problem with the older conversational software is to use it properly you must be a CNC Machinist/CNC Programmer. It has no artificial intelligence. I personally never had a problem with it but I know how to use it (since 1986)

I don't know the story why Fanuc abandoned FAPT/CAPS but I suspect they may have sold the rights/technology to another company (perhaps Mori Seiki for it's CAPS). Or perhaps there was some political things going on.
A while ago I asked our local Fanuc repair guy about it and he just said 'don't ask'

FAPT and CAPS is the same thing. Just the name changed somewhere in early to mid 90's around Fanuc 16-series release.
CAPS has faster hardware, slightly changed menus, some things added to allow better tool control, better tooling file management, slightly more intelligence in specific areas like taper to arc intersections where drawing sizes are missing and it has to calculate things, more optimized roughing, nicer graphics and many other little things that are too numerous to list.

I never saw anything about mori taking caps from fanuc. Yes, it's called caps, but it's not even running on the fanuc side. It also has stuff like dxf import that the fanuc one never had. Couldn't tell you if it's better or not, but our guys that use it say it works pretty well for more simple stuff.

that was just a guess because Mori calls it CAPS too
But yes I agree it's not Fanuc CAPS. In the hardware board list in SYSTEM there are no Fanuc graphics or CAPS boards listed.
On Mori CAPS the DXF Import is an option. Also they don't have any way to resume machining on an undercut using a different tool. That section has to be re-drawn. I read in a brochure they seem to call it 'Relief Machining' and its an option too. Perhaps only available on MAPPS3 and MAPPS4 machines? I have an earlier MAPPS (1 i think) and there's nothing relating to Relief Machining.

it's definitely a strange thing why Fanuc dropped it when it was quite powerful and the current manual guide is dog snot in comparison.

However, it is strange, I do not understand why Fanuc does not work on making programming easier, the ManualGuide for me is too slow and not really efficient.
I'm seriosuly looking to buy other cnc control......haidenhain or siemens.....

You'll be sorry with either one. Buy a mori with a mapps control. At least it's fanuc but has the programming function you want. Our guys hate the heidenhein, and Siemens, well, good luck keeping that thing running.
