    DNC operation (REMOTE)

Hello everyone, I need your help.I am working with 31i and 32i Fanuc controllers and I will like to use the DNC operation(RMT Mode) not with a memory card but with a computer.

Until now, DNC operation has been made with the memory card. Nevertheless, we have built a CNC ethernet network, so now we have the CNC machines connected to a PC. At the moment I am transferring programs from the PC to and from the CNC using CIMCO software. Now each CNC machine has a specific folder in the PC.

As I mentioned, I will like to perform DNC operation (RMT Mode) with the PC instead of the memory card.

Note: By activating automatic operation during the DNC operation mode (RMT), it is possible to perform machining (DNC operation) while a program is being read in via reader/puncher interface.

I will greatly appreciate any information you could share with me about this feature.
    Thanks,
    Gonzalo

you need some software on the PC side that monitors the connection and can activate the DNC automatically.
I think RYM - CNC Monitoring & Communication Solutions have the software required.
The main man to ask is Dan Fritz.... rym is his company

but if you have a memory card slot just use that. it's far easier and quicker.
Fanuc 31i/32i can read from very large compact flash card via PCMCIA card adapter. The machine may also have USB connectivity so you can use common USB thumb drive.
There's really no need for old technology like DNC on latest Fanuc controls.

    Hello fordav11,

I am using CIMCO DNC Max 6 Software on the PC. At the moment we have 13 CNC machines connected to the PC via ethernet.

Until now, the operators are using DNC operation on the memory card.

My objective is to allow them to perform DNC operation but from the computer instead of the mc.

so how big are the programs you are running?
DNC is generally only used to run large programs that are bigger than the CNC memory.
If you want to simply download programs remotely from a PC use PC-DNC Plus.
We use it at my work and its really great! You just punch out a small one line program (3 commands typed in with MDI) and then press read and the program you want comes down.

also having a CNC machine permanently dependent on an ethernet connection to do its work is not very wise. The CNC machine is much more robust than any common PC and should operate free-standing for best results. Trusting your production to a PC connection is not the best thing to do.

I believe that the Embedded Ethernet is limited to file transfer (upload and download) only. DNC (drip-feed via REMOTE) operation only works through the serial port or PCMCIA port.
