    polar interpolation 2 axis lathe

Is polar interpolation requires the live tool?

I need to program oval shape on 2 axis lathe, w/out live tooling.

On a lathe, Polar Interpolation requires a "C" axis.

If the oval shape is in the X axis, you won't be able to program that unless the control is equipped with software to be able to turn that shape. If it had that functionality, it would likely have a "C" axis, but I haven't seen a lathe without live tooling that has a "C" axis.

Obviously, you can generate an oval (elliptical) shape between the X and Z axis and turn such a shape (like a football) where the X form is concentric with the spindle centre line. If that's what you mean, I can give you a routine that will generate the NC code for that.

    Regards,

    Bill
