Hi Andrew, wish you'd contacted me earlier, threw several away recently!! Will see what's left, what exactly do you need.

Anyone got a BTR (behind tape reader) they no longer need suitable for a Fanuc 6M? Or can you recommend a cost effective solution? I believe it can also be done at ttl levels using the parallel port on a pc talking directly to the tape/punch card - anyone got any details?

Hi Mike,
Good to see you follow the forum!
My Fanuc Tapecut Wire EDM is based on a Fanuc 6M, and that vintage, although it has an RS232 cannot ‘drip feed’ – you can load programs as big as memory via rs232 but it doesn’t pause the transfer and top up memory. I suppose the designers never envisaged huge programs generated by CAM.
I have managed to get a very early ‘Controls West’ BTR card which works but has no flow control at all so has to be set at a very low baud rate not to trip over its own feet. It does have the advantage that it interfaces to the Facit 4070 output port on the 6M as well.
So in an ideal world I want a BTR that interfaces to the Fanuc 50 way tape reader port, but also interfaces to the Facit 4070 port so I can save and drip through the same rs232.
Awash with pigs here so a four footed exchange perhaps !!!!!!
BTW - your 'MachineSupportServices' email isn't working and mails bounce, drop me a line and let me know your new one
Regards,
Andrew
