I am being driving insane by my machine I am running model 5 red caps with granite devices amps and using camsoft with a galil 18 2 pci board. I have been having problems with one axis failing to complete motion and the galil board disabling the amp. it is an intermittent problem. I know that the red caps are very reliable, I am wondering if the motor is possible the culprit, the power supply to that amp is 1.5 kw output 115v dc. the motor is not being driven hard, but sometimes it just seems to just fall out and creep along. it seems tom work ok for a while, and gradually behave progressively worse . I guess my question is does this sound like it could be the motor, could it be problem that gets worse as the motor warms up? when a red cap fails, how does it behave? or am I barking up the wrong tree? I would appreciate any help. |

| I can't really say what others have seen on their red cap Fanuc motors, but every one I have had fail has given me the over-current alarm - every last one the same alarm. The failure has always been sudden and complete as well, not intermitent at all. |
