    Fanuc 16ma Memory

I have a Fanuc 16ma control with 512k of memory. What can be done to increase memory size? More memory, Data server, install 16B mother board?

The 16MA has a 512k limit, unless you have a newer software version, which permits 2Mb; we don't have that module and the list price from Fanuc is ~$10k!
    Call Nexas at 1-888-686-3927.

What is the limit for the 16MB and C?

The chart is a little confusing.

the 16b/c and 18c have a 2meg limit, but on the 16B the type of module depends on the CPU version.

Fanuc 16 adn 18 Memory limits

The 16MA has a limit of 512KB. Theoretically it might be done but in practical terms you are stuck at 512kB. We have an Embedded DNC and file server with 2 GB for reliable drip feeding if that limit is not enough. The 16B/C limit is 2MB.
The Fanuc 18C is usually only 512KB unless it has a later software version that allows 2MB. The 16 B with a FROM board (0010 MB)is 2MB. Teh hardware varies as to the MB. 16A is different than 16BC for 1280metres.

What's the memory limit on the B model? 2MB?

I have available the following CPU boards:

    A16B-3200-0170 FS16B
    A16B-3200-0190 FS16C (also FS160C? aka A16B-0222-Bxxx)
    A16B-3230-0150 ?
    A16B-3200-0110 FS16B
    A16B-3200-0010 ?

Have not really settled on which one I'm gonna use in my build. See my build thread. I bought a large lot of old 16 CPU boards as one lot. I was also able to find all of the small DIMM boards listed in the 16 manuals.

    Exclamation Fanuc memeory limits

    Hi Greg
The limits are as follows after your list. I indicate what we sell for these
    A16B-3200-0170 FS16B 512KB or 2MB
    A16B-3200-0190 FS16C 512KB or 2MB
    (also FS160C? aka A16B-0222-Bxxx) Should be [512kb or 2MB
A16B-3230-0150 ?NOt sure this is a MB for Fanuc 16/18 unless it is an i Series
IF the number were A16B-3200-0150 it would be a 21 control high speed buffer
    A16B-3200-0110 FS16B 512kb or 2MB
A16B-3200-0010 This is the special FROM board version of the 16B it takes 2MB and has a special setup with 8 MB Flash although the part program max is still 2MB. This is a more expensive board ($2500 from Nexas) IT is also harder to install. You MUST have a 4 MB PCMCIA card to upgrade the 0010 MB as you need to load the Flash which I believe cannot be done through a serial port

In all of these the software version must be one that allows 2MB . This is more of an issue with 18B and 18C controls.
All of these 16B and C controls are OK for 2MB 99% of the time.

Note that i series are different i Series B controls are encrypted by Fanuc.
    Hope this helps

I don't know how I ended up with the -0150 board, but I have it.

The configuration I need help with is that I'm trying to put together the 16M Model B control, and ended up with several different CPU boards, boxes and boxes of the modules for the boards, and a few extra option boards including the PMC and loader. I also ended up with most of the A20B-2900, -2901 and -2902 boards listed in the 16 manuals, and some there are several of each.

I want the most out of the system, so I bought a 6 slot 16MB chassis and power supply. I couldn't find the 8 slot chassis. Although apparently you can hook up an additional chassis for 6 more slots.

I need to know what modules to install on the boards to make it into a fully upgraded system.
