I just got a 1990 Fanuc TapeMate I believe the control is an OM-B OR C because it does have a paralle port. The machine only had 8000 kb of memory and fanuc service guy walked me through the memory upgrade process to get 32,000 and get the baud rate up to 9600, both max for this control. I have it wired and using easydnc for communications and can upload and download. What I can not figure out is how to drip feed this machine. I have no tape button, or dnc prompt anywhere. The service guy was to new? technically to figure this out and also I ordered manuals but they are 4-6 months out. If anyone can help me out with where to look for a parameter switch or something I would greatly appreciate it. I have seen some posts about ladder config and honestly I have no clue how to get into or change it. If I hit my para / diag button 3x it does pull up a dark screen that says ladder config protected by iteself and lower left sayd adrs. I appreciate any help in this matter .......... Happy New Year. |

it must be some fancy program if you need more than 32k! ![]() you need the tape mode but do some reading for more info http://www.cnczone.com/forums/fanuc/..._fanuc_6m.html there are hundreds of questions about DNC here search 'dnc on fanuc 6mb' or 'drip feed fanuc 6mb' then read, read, read!

Thank You ........ I am reading reading reading LOL ....... There has to be a uncomplex solution I hope. 95% of what I cut is complex 3D surfaces so a 32,000 pgm is tiny, I have alot of stuff that average program is over 285,000kb and 40-75 differ operations in Mastercam. I have some programs that push 40 megs when I load alot of seperate parts.

might be time to buy a better machine ![]() there is a solution for DNC via an adapter that plugs into the serial port or somewhere in the machine. I don't have the link handy. if you read read read all the DNC posts you will find it or someone may come along and tell you here.

read Dan Fritz's post #7 here.... http://www.cnczone.com/forums/fanuc/..._fanuc_6m.html another option is get your service guy to figure out where the tape switch should be connected and add one. its very unusual for a 6 series control not to have a tape mode.

For DNC, normally the PMC register G127.5 is set on with a switch, which is written into the PMC by the MTB. In some cases the switch has been added inside the control panel. You can look at the register in the Diagnostic screen to determine the status of this register. Many 0M-B and 0M-C controls were shipped without a TAPE mode on the Mode Select switch, but there may be a setting bit or a PC parameter that will do the same thing. For this information, you'll have to contact the machine tool builder, or find it in the PMC ladder. It depends on the MTB, but many Fanuc 0MB and 0MC had an interface signal called "DNCI" available via the PMC ladder. If this signal is turned on, you can run directly off a PC through the serial port using AUTO/MEMORY mode. When the signal is turned off, the AUTO/MEMORY mode only runs from memory, and programs can only be downloaded to memory via the Serial Interface using EDIT mode. It was up to the MTB (not Fanuc) to provide a method to toggle this signal. Regards, Bill
