I recently buy a new lathe with fanuc oitd,
the same program whit g71 roughing type 2 (undercut) :
runned on 0itc take 9,30 min
runned on 0itd take 11,30 min
take more time on 0itd because it going to cut air!
The lathe are quite similar and i use same cutting speed
Anyone have similar experiance???

I agree, if the machines are the same, it would have to be the default parameters are different for retract amount etc..
I'm with Under on this one. If it is the same structure of a canned cycle typeI or typeII then it would have to be the parameter settings that are related to the canned cycles probably more specific to the retract amounts.
Speaking outside of my expertise I would also have to imagine that depending on the servos, how they are tuned, and the specific machine specs will also play in on this. One would think that a Oitd on a brand new shiny lathe would be much faster then a Oitc on 10yr old lathe would be much faster even if the canned cycle parameters are the same. So are we comparing apples to apples............same make, model, year, stroke machine??

Retract amount is the same, servo settings and acc/dec are more faster on 0itd, i'm going to take a video of the same program runnet on the two machine.

There are quite a few versions of G71, both in Type I and Type II. I have seen one version on a Takasawa Lathe with a Series 10 control that when G71 Type I was activated, it performed a combination of Type I and Type II. In Type I is was able to cut profiles containing non monotonous X moves without error, or wrecking the part, but it left steps on tapered surfaces, as does Type I normally, before taking a final pass leaving the specified finish allowances, if any.

It is probably because the 0i-TD performs a rough cut of the finished shape by default. This behavior can be controled by parameter 5105. Set 5105#1 and 5105#2 both to "1" if you don't want the roughing cut.

written correctly because you have absolute control over tool movement at all times.
using conversational software is usually faster than manual programming but of course
you must learn to use the conversational software proficiently![]()
