Fanuc 10t controll. Preset retract in canned cycle?

I am running an old Victor cnc lathe. It has a Fanuc 10t control. When doing a canned cycle it is only needed to write one G71 line to perform the cycle.

Example: G71 P101 Q105 D500 U.003 W.0015 F.008;

From what I understand, this control has a preset retract for the canned cycle. Mine is set at .1" retract. The problem with this is, when boring for example, if Im only taking a .01" cut with a bar cutting at its minimum bore I cant retract .1" or it will crash.

So my question is; Where is this preset located? And if at all possible, how can I change it?

IIRC it should be parameter 6215 for the retract amount in the G71 and G72 cycles. You will have to set your PWE bit in parameter 8000 while in MDI mode in order to change this parameter.

Yeah, thanks for this one stevo. I've actually been working on the 6000 parameters for the 10TF this week. Didn't realize there was a preset retract for the G71 & G72.

I usually use a 1/64" (.015") min. retract on lathe boring cycles.

Parameters for the 7000, 8000, 9000 are due finished by Jan 2nd, 2012. That way when the guy comes to put them in my control he can write the ladder, etc.

Well I've been using parameters I obtained from several lathes with 10t controls to use as a guide to setting my parameters since I wasn't able locate a good parameter manual or a guide to use as a reference. And i've never set up a lathe control before.. I just wish there was a better guide to what every parameter is, does, etc. I just Hope I've got all the axes parameters set right.

I hear ya Greg. There isn't much for documentations when it comes to that. I have been unable to locate the 10series manuals either. I usually reference my 15series as they are pretty close. I had a set of 10series operators, maint, parameter manuals but I left them at my last place. I regret it greatly especially how hard it is to locate these now.
