| Here is what is going on: I'm using a probe to do a first article on a part, then having the operator write down the numbers created on to our inspection sheets. Here is what I want to happen: Probe to do first article and error out if part is out of tolerance.(I will write the macros as needed). Then the control to print out the dimensions so the operator will attach that information to the inspection sheet. So... How can that happen using the dprnt command? Thanks in advance for any help

| Easy....if you are using a Renishaw probe, then you will have Inspection Plus macro software. If thats the case, then just add a W1. or W2. on to the end of your probing cycle...like this: G65 P9814 D2.0 H.005 W1. This will automatically send your results out via whatever port is set via your I/O channel settings. Chances are that you are using Ethernet now, which is I/O channel 5. Depending on what Fanuc control you have you may or may not be able to send data to this channel. If you have an RS232 cable avaialbe or already have a DNC system connected, you can set up a connection that way. If you need more detail on how to do this, let me know. I can help. With an RS232 connection, you'll need to set your I/O channel to 0 or 1 depending on which conneciton your cable is wired in to. If you have a DNC system, set it up to Recieve a file and turn off the Start/End file characters, which are % signes. Just let the DNC recieve with no auto closing of the port. That way it will recieve your entire probing results. If you don't have a DNC system you can use Hyperterminal or download any of the freeware serial connections. To check your port setting, cable and DNC, just do a simple test like this in MDI: POPEN DPRNT[TEST*PORT] PCLOS If you see Test Port show up on the Terminal of your DNC or in the file you are writing, your good to go. There's another option out there that is far easire than this and gives your complete CMM type reports from your probing. But the above insturctions will get you what your asking for. If you need any more help, just ask. |
