Need Help!- Fanuc O-MD.....trouble booting up

Hi I have a Fanuc O-MD controller which was running fine....now when I power up all I get is some unreadable text in faint 5 letter groups on the screen, the buttons on the operator panel go beep....yet there's no-body home. Any ideas or thoughts for where to start looking would be greatly appreciated.

The dim text sounds like perhaps it's the screen, though hard to say without seeing it. Is the text all squashed into one line in the middle of the screen, or does it look fairly normal, but just garbage characters?

I don't think it's the screen.....the text is in 5 letter groups and is about 5 groups across by 5 or 6 lines.....the letters are meaningless though. It's like the motherboard or main cpu board isn't booting up. Am I correct in thinking that if it was a dud screen the buttons would still work?

Yes, the buttons should work, sorry, it seems I misunderstood what you were meaning about the buttons. I know of somebody else who had what sounded like a similar problem with the screen - he described it as 'like Chinese' on the screen and it turned out to be his motherboard. I was surprised that the graphics board was fine, but there you go. I never saw the symptoms, so can't say it's what you are having. If you are stuck with it, then PM me
