Question 31i & 16i How can I stop the program screen going blank on door open?

Hi peeps.
I need my operators to see what's going on, without having then pressing buttons to get the program screen back. So how can I prevent these machines from blanking the program screen after M30 and after the door is opened?
Desperately need to do this as we had a 17% rework on one job after two different operators removed the work pieces before the finish cut, instead of re-tighten and tap down. DOH!

Thanks in advance for any assistance. Have a donut, I'm buying.

Pete.

Oops, sorry Homer got there first!

Are you sure the control is not going into a screen saver mode due to inactivity? Have you by-passed the door interlock switches? Have you read the manuals to identify what condition causes the screen to go blank?

I have never seen any machine that the screen goes blank when you open a door, unless there was a 24 volt short in the switch. Post machine types, that may help. If they happen to be mori's, it is just the screen save timer on the mapps.

On the 16i, parameter 3123 sets the time before automatic screen clearing. Parameter 3208 bit 1 = 1 will disable the automatic screen clearing.

I don't find any reference to this in the 31i parameter manual.

Thanks for helping guys. The machines are all Fanucs T21D and T21E.

No, we don't bypass the interlock these days. We used to but it's a disciplinary offence now.

The prog screen blanks on either M30 in auto even after a short cycle of a few seconds, or pressing the door open button when in auto. Definitely not the screen saver, (which is set at approx 10 mins) it's just that the program vanishes from the screen either in full screen mode or in the multi view mode. So what is left for the oppy to see it something like this:

(multi view mode)

We have to press the [2] (prog) and [V] (page down/select) hard buttons to get the prog back on screen.

I am partly getting round the worst of it by adding a #3006+1 (COMMENT) line, so the oppy at least sees a message to remind him what he should be doing when he opens the door in mid cycle. But when the machine continues on cycle start, we have a blank prog screen again. Plus, of course, the program never comes back into view, unless a setter comes by and presses some buttons.

Cheers people. Pete.

Ok, it is actually a message screen as it will have the line at the top saying "THE DOOR TO THE SPLASH GUARD IS OPEN". But that has of course blanked the program screen, just like a #3006+1 (COMMENT) line will do, but the prog screen never comes back on cycle start. So I still need to at least cancel the blank effect without having oppys hitting buttons. The condition is still 'door open'.
Looking at parameter 14703 in the manual, and G62 is something to do with making a screen visible or not. It's currently set to '0' 'disabled'. Have to wait till Monday and get the ok from the mgr before trying it.
Yeah, it's like that.
