6M Power Supply & Input Unit

I'm back to working on the 6M project again..

I have the 6M B2.. see my 6M build thread.

http://www.cnczone.com/forums/fanuc/...6m_system.html

There appear to be a couple different power supplies for the System 6.

A14B-0061-B001
A14B-0061-B002

The manual doesn't say much about the difference.

There also appears to be 4 different "Input Unit"' modules.

A14B-0061-B101
A14B-0061-B102
A14B-0061-B103
A14B-0061-B104

I see mostly the -B103 available in quantity, while the other 3 are not as easy to find.. well except for the B102.

Can anyone tell me what the differences are, and where they are used? I will pick up a B103 if anyone can tell me if thats the one to use.. and the power supply to go with it.

I think but not 100% sure the maintenance manual mentions the differences.I remember checking one out a couple of years back on a 6T.
The input module as they call it is really a rough power supply. It needs to power up first.

Well, I do have a System 6 Model B maintenance manual but I'm missing several pages.

I looked on eBay, and it seems the the most widely available "Input Unit" is the A14B-0061-B103. I did not see very many of the other 4 Input Unit part numbers.

If I can nail down which CRT/MDI unit to use and what power supply, I will buy those and finish the installation.

The other thing I am puzzled about, is which CRT/MDI unit works with my specific installation. There appears to be 4 different series of part numbers, each which have 4 different units.

These being:

A02B-0050-C011, -C012, -C031 and C032
A02B-0051-C011, -C012, -C031 and C032
A02B-0059-C011, -C012, -C031 and C032
A02B-0060-C011, -C012, -C031 and C032

The manual is not specific about which one goes with which installation.

There also seems to be several different keyboards too.. most of them are with the series A02B-0007-0440 through -0449. Probably for the different languages, or possibly for different types of machines.

The only number I can find for the CRT unit is A13B-0055-C001.

I could not even so much as find the correct "Installation" number which is normally something like the format A02B-0051-B501

A14B-0061-B101 For domestic use.Assume Japan?

A14B-0061-B102 For export use. Free standing and built in Type 2 cabinets. 30A fuse.

A14B-0061-B103 For built in Type 1 and unbundled cabinets.

A14B-0061-B104 Same as B102 but has 40A fuse for domestic and import markets.

Basically they are all the same unless they have different input voltages.

If you already have this info in your manual please say so to save me wasting my time.
All the info is in Table 1.2 of the Maintenance manual.
There`s more but don`t want to copy it if you already have it.

I couldn't find this information.

I assumed that most machine tools that had 6M used a built in CRT/MDI.

I also looked for more information about the transformer, both for the servo and the control.

My installation seems to be similar to the Fig. 3.6(b) on pg. 91 of the manual. and is titled "Total connecton diagram for built-in type 1 cabinet"

Whats the difference between a type 1 and a type 2 cabinet?

The cabinets I have used recently are all 6' tall floor freestanding cabinets from AutomationDirect.

The diagram seems to show using the -B103 input unit and the -B001 supply (what it calls a "stabilizer unit").

I don't have the cabling (yet..) that goes from the masterboard X, Y/Z, Z/P, C07, C06, C10 connectors to the machine side. Although I have a MPG that goes to C07.

When my 6M was installed on the Monarch.. it seemed to run fine on the 320M 64-2 BMU card, A87L-0001-0016.

I had to add the RAM board (A20B-0008-0451) for the PC Model B card. Didn't have it when I got the machine.

Inside the cabinet on the machine was also a M-M interface board (A20B-0008-0500.

Still have yet to locate copies of the B-51649E and B-54044E and B-54043E and B-53425E.. and the manual for the A06B-6047-Hxxx Velocity units.

I do have the A20B-0008-0461 axes board and the A06B-0641-B011 servos

I also saw a DSCG unit in the drawing.

See attached..
