Hello all, I program and run a Tsugami BS19-III swiss lathe with a Fanuc 18i-TB control. at my last job I ran a Nexturn swiss with the same control. On the Nexturn when I hit reset it would turn off all spindles, coolant, and reset non modal M&G codes (like M50 spindle positioning) On the Tsugami I hit reset and nothing really happens. It does not matter if Im in Memory or MDI. The coolant stays on, the spindles stay on and if Im using a cross drill the M50 spindle positioning code stays active. The only way to stop the spindles is Estop (which I dont like to do) or Edit>Reset>MDI then (M5, M25, or M105) EOB, Insert, Cycle Start. Thats Question 1. Also, our machine has an auto cutoff and if you stop the program while cross drilling the M50 (spindle positioning) stays active. So when you hit Edit>Reset>Memory>Cycle start it will not cutoff because you need an M51 to cancel the M50. So you have to MDI>M51>cycle start. Annoying. The Nexturn would clear the M50 when you hit reset. This is verrrry annoying and kinda unsafe in my opinion so Im wondering if there are any Fanuc experts out there that could tell me if there is a parameter to change that will stop all spindles and turn off coolant when I hit reset. also is there a parameter to clear the M50 with a reset too? Just thought of this one too: Both machines have separate back working stations. On the Nexturn when you went from tool to tool on the backside it would automatically return to home before indexing to the next tool,so if you were at the tool face on T31 and did a MDI>T32>start it would automatically return to its G28 W0 Z home position before moving over in X. the Tsugami will just move in X and crash the tool if you forget to retract the Sub before the next tool command. Is there any way (a parameter) to force the Z retract before indexing X? I assume since its the same control it can be configured to act the same Thanks for any help!

there are a number of parameters that control what reset does. 0100 bit 6 should be 0 that stops the program and machine. 5003 bit 6 and bit 7 should be 0 that clears the offset/geometry. if you have a manual look through it searching for 'reset' and check each one in your control Last edited by fordav11; 09-16-2011 at 02:35 AM.

I fixed the M51 cancel spindle positioning issue. I looked at my parameters and the above mentioned bits match your suggestion but my machine does not respond as expected. Even with them as you suggest the spindles and coolant stay on with a reset. any other thoughts? is there is Fanuc company sponsored forum I can ask? I dont have the actual Fanuc yellow 2000 page manual for the control. only the tsugami operation manual (that does not deal with parameters.)

Some things can not be controlled via parameter. This is a good example of why M0 works differently from machine to machine. If this is written into the ladder differently then it will react differently. Some M0 will shutoff the spindle and other machines will not. I believe that you are having a similar issue of it being written in the ladder. You can look at 3402.6 CLR for clearing the machine with reset. Not Fanuc sponsored but you are in it right now. There is a Fanuc forum but you will get next to no response at it. It is setup similar to this forum but it has minimal traffic and little response to questions which is why I rarely visit it. This is your best source for asking for help among a few other forums that I am also a member at. Stevo

damn it all! I bet you're right about it being written into the ladder. Tsugami m1 and m0 shut off spindles and coolant and when you hit start after the m0 the coolant doesnt come back on. you have to hit the coolant button so it sounds like what you're describing. Oh well, it was worth a shot
