Problem- Tool Life Management on MSG-500

Here's some pics of the Tool Life Management screens on my MSG-500 control.
I can add a tool (or any number of tools) and set the time or usage to a number and set the remaining time/usage to another number. Here I've set the minutes to 10 and used is 9. So there's 1 minute to go for this tool.

The problem is the time/usage does not count up at all. It appears to not be enabled? The SET and D and H columns are blank and there is no way to enter info there. Maybe they are supposed to be blank I don't know.

Using G10L3 (etc) to fill the tool management data via a program does not work.
If I put a G10 in the program it says ILLEGAL G CODE

Anyone have access to a MSG-500/MSG-501/MSG-803 and used Tool Life Management and/or anyone know how the Tool Life Management works on this series of control?

I found out to enable the Tool Life Management requires a Mori-specific G-code
The current Mori's like NT on MAPPS III etc use it like this....
G336 T1.
The 1 tells it which tool group to use.
However it seems between MSG-500 (my MAPPS I control circa 2000) and MSC-504 (a manual I have circa 2007) they changed the way G336 works.
On my machine it turns on the function but the machine just sits there waiting with the cycle light on :/
If I press reset the tool life counter increments by 1!
