I assume the 'adapter' is a PCMCIA to CF adapter? Any CF card will work regardless.

Which Fanuc controller do you have? You must tell the control you are punching out or reading from the CF card.
On 16i/18i there is an easy way, simply press SETTING, then I/O then switch it from RS232 to CARD (move cursor right) and press SET.
Other controls vary but there is always an easy way to switch the input/output.

for 18i the instructions are attached, taken from Fanuc 18i-TB manual. The method can change between machine
manufacturers if you don't have stock Fanuc control. For example Mori Seiki heavily morified err I mean modified their
controls to make the use much nicer (I.E MAPPS I, II, III, IV etc) but the base is still Fanuc although if you have a
Mori and you follow the Fanuc manual it won't make sense at all
You really need to read the manuals that came with the machine if you have them.

But like I said above you just need to set the input/output device to the card (set parameter 20 to 4) and you can
punch and read using the card slot. Just buy any common CF card, they are like $5 on ebay etc.

WOW! I looked it up and they sell for $78. Amazing what a Fanuc sticker can do for the price.
I'm using a regular PC CF to PCMCIA adapter like this one, $2

I have been looking for one of these for my 18i. I was given a bunch of FANUC formatted cards in a box when I got my 18i stuff for the build earlier this year.

It's not a Pentium 18i though.. only the 486 CPU module card. oh well.. it's a 18i-MA. If I move to a B or C model I might upgrade.

At leat now I have the correct NA Operator panel on it for the i Series CNC.

the CF<->PCMCIA adapters are available on ebay for $2
Fanuc cards are just DOS Fat 16 formatted. You can read them on a PC.
