Need Help!- Setting up a Fanuc 6T Tooloffset system

Hello all fellow swarf makers.
Ikegi AX20N with a 6T fanuc

I'm setting up (well trying to) my tools in my lathe
Could some please explain how to do this probably as i'm getting some "funny" results.
1.I have set tool 1 as my ref tool with no offset values on to a peice of work. Z0 is the face of the workpiece and say Diameter (X)= 100.0
2. Move tool 1 away and select tool 2
3. Bring tool2 to touch the workpiece and note the values (X=60.0 Z=-8.7)
4.Set the tool offset value to X-40.0 Z-8.7 R=0 T=0 (dunno what T means???)
5. Call tool 1 with T0101 to check the it is correct (Sweet as)
6. Call tool2 with T0202....(all goes pear shaped)

The machine moves to setup the tooloffset fine.
When I Mdi call X100.0 Z0.0 the machine bring the tool2 to the correct position on the work but the display doesn't read correctly. X=60.0 Z-8.7 (the tooloffset amount)

Basically How come??? am i missing somthing.And am i going threw the correct procedure to setup the tools . I havn't got a flash toolsetter thingy
Oh yea one last question on my display what is the difference between (U W Realtive) and (X Z Absoulate) They seem to always be the same

Well i've answered one of my questions.
(U W Realtive) and (X Z Absoulate). Rel - running in tool off set mode... Abs No tooloff set mode.
Now i've got another question. How do you turn off too offset. With T0101 tool1 has no offset entered. When i cmd X100.0 ABS display's 100.0 but it is not at the right position on the machine. It look like the toolset is still on??

Is there any good online book on this subject by any chance?
