hi guys we really need some help as this is a new one for us! yesterday we overtravelled the machine with a . missing in a program so what happened was the machine (Takisawa TC2 Lathe) loaded up on the corodrill we hit the emergency stop, removed the piece from the chuck by taking one of the jaws off as the chuck wouldn't open under the pressure from the tool. then as we have done in the past fired the machine back up again to manually jog the machine back into range but it simply wouldn't let us... so we have at this stage manually turned the ball screw on the x axis to get it off the limit switch (didnt fix) tested all limit switches on x and z axis (didnt fix) reset all breakers and checked fuses (didnt fix) anyone got any ideas your help would be awesome, Im just the dickhead engineer! Stu for Mitch the machinist |

| Hi Have you tried the m/c button on the control panel hold it down for a bit or reset p cancel buttons all held down can fire it up, or with OT on an absolute mc hit reset and ot button next to axis keys, it may not go if you still have a trip active, try looking through ladder for missing cortact, (in pmc) |

| I suspect he already fixed it, his (single) post was 5 months ago and he never logged on again!! (bloody kiwi's ![]() anyway for the benefit of others who might be in a similar situation one day.... if you know which axis has over-travelled you can set the max travel in parameters (the exact one depends on your control) to a larger number. I over-travelled Z on one machine some years ago and couldn't move it back even by pressing the O/T release button. After I changed the max travel parameter and then powered off/on it was no longer in over-travel and I simply moved it back then put the parameter to where it was before. if you have already wound the axis back and you are still in over-travel after power off/on then it might be one of the switches is stuck on. there are 2 over-travel points on each axis. one is termed a soft limit and the other a hard limit. the soft limit can usually be released with the O/T release button. i.e. power off, hold release button, power on, move axis back in manual with pulse generator handle, all while keeping the O/T release button held in. the hard limit requires more effort like changing the max travel parameter or physically winding the leadscrew back. |
