Fanuc Series 0i-MC PWE not changing!!

i had a problem with my backup batteries, i changed them and now having the 300 APC ALARM.
i know i have to go to setting , 1815 and change the ZRN to 1 when the machine is on reference point.
but when doing that, i get the "write protected" error.

so i go to offset, settings, and try to change the Parameter write 0 to 1. but unfortunately i am not being able to!!

i am on MDI, E-Stop. i can change all the parameters except for this one!
whenever i try, the 0 turns to 1 for a friction of a second and then gets back to 0 by itself!!

i need an urgent help, please.

there is a write protect key, its put on the UNLOCKED single, which is supposed to mean that its not write protected.

anyway, i tried both ways, turning the key to the LOCK and UNLOCK , same result ....

the PWE isnt changing anyway.

I seem to remember trying to change the PWE bit in the "PARAM" screen, and it not working, but in the "SETTING" page it does, and it has to be in MDI. Any help?

I think if you press SETTING a couple of times, you come up with a few parameters that can be set "on the fly" like drill and thread cycle params, and communication params. You'd first see parameter 0000. Page one up from there, and you see the PWE parameter. Change it there? I'm going off memory here. Could be wrong...

Beeg is correct, there is a parameter for PWE in the system parameter area as well as via the machine setting page, but it has to be set via the Setting Page.

The Setting Page is the (HANDY) Setting Page. Follow the below procedures to find the page and set the PWE

1. Place the NC in the MDI mode or the emergency stop state.
2. To display the setting screen, press the SETTING function key
as many times as required, or alternatively press the SETTING
function key once, then the SETTING section select soft key. The first page of the setting screen appears.
3. Position the cursor on “PARAMETER WRITE” at the top of the setting page using the cursor move keys. The following is how the Setting Page will probably be set out:

SETTING (HANDY)

PARAMETER WRITE = (0ISABLE 1:ENABLE)
TV CHECK = 0 (0:OFF 1:ON)
PUNCH CODE = 0 (0:EIA 1:ISO)
INPUT UNIT = 0 (0:MM 1:INCH)
I/O CHANNEL = 0 (0–3:CHANNEL NO.)
MDI STOP *** *** *** 10:03:02
[NO.SRH] [ ON:1 ] [ OFF:0 ] [+INPUT] [INPUT]

4. At the very bottom of the page is the Soft key display (section select)
5. To set “PARAMETER WRITE=” to 1, press the ON:1 soft key, or alternatively enter 1 and press the INPUT soft key. From then on, the parameters can be set. At the same time an alarm condition (P/S100 PARAMETER WRITE ENABLE) occurs in the CNC; this is normal..
6. Once all changes have been made to parameters the PWE has to be set back to Zero via the Setting Page by again following the above procedure.
7. After setting PWE to Zero, press RESET to extinguish the P/S100 alarm.
8. Changing some parameters requires the control Off/On state to be cycled.

Regards,

Bill

Brand of mill & software version, if you know please. Some manufacturers embed their own safety protocols into parameter changes, so knowing this info may help.

Thanks!
