Fanuc 6Tb alarm 73.

hello, i've recently been working on hooking up a Mori Seiki Lathe with a Fanuc 6Tb controller to a PC Via RS232.

I was able to get the PC and the fanuc to communicate and upload programs with a DNC software called DNC precision.

What I wanna know is why i keep getting alarm 73 if i try to re-upload the same program with the same program number, is there a way to tell the machine to overwrite the program?

also is there a way to see multiple programs stored in the memory?
and is there a way to delete an entire program without having to erase each line of code.

thanks for your help.

Alarm 73 is "The program number is already been used", to upload a program with the same number into memory, you will have to first delete the old program from memory (even if it the same program) You could on this control I believe Drip Feed and therefore no machine memory would be used.

Programs

Sorry did not answer question about delete of program, see attachment section 5.20 and 5.21. Also as a side note If you do not have a manual for this control, I have a PDF copy of the 6M control that is close, PM with e-mail and I'll send.

The Fanuc controller alows you change a program number as it is read into the controller. Simply type address letter O and (up to} 4 digit program number, then press Read, (in either edit or auto mode should do it). It doesn't matter what number is there in the file on the PC, it will be read into the controller with the new number. Most cad-cam systems will default to O0001 each time.
To delete entire program from memory, switch to edit mode, and enter letter O then program number, and press Delete.
To delete parts of programs, in edit mode you can enter the character you want to delete, then press delete. You will then delete everything from where the cursor is up to and including the address you typed in. eg if the cursor is near the top of the program, and you type M30 then press Delete, you will have deleted most of the program. This can happen accidentally sometimes, you want to alter or insert something but press Delete (why are these buttons so close together?)
To display a list of programs in memory, switch to edit mode, on program screen, press (one at a time) Reset Cancel Origin. This also displays amount of remaining memory available.
