18i-MB simulation mode ?

Hi,

I am looking for a way to 'run' a 18i-MB without any amplifiers just for training.
This would bring up the need for dummy axis X,Y,Z,A and B.

Could this be possible or is it just one of my weird ideas ?

Thanks
Uli

Toolpath graphic can be seen without actual tool movement.

Ok, so I am really starting to get frustrated. I want to play TR underworld on my macbook pro 15 inch but it keeps saying.
Failed to initialize Direct 3D with current settings.

Hi Sinha,

I tried to do so, but I never see any path or workpiece in the graphics window. I admit that I am not used to these controls so maybe I just did not find the clue how to activate it.
Maybe I'll try first with a full setup with amplipiers and start reducing the environment when I had success with the graphics. Just to avoid basic configuration faults.

@janejoj786 and MysticMonkey:
What are you talking about ? This is not to be related to this thread, is it ?

On Fanuc MDI, there is a CUSTOM GRAPH key for this purpose.

Hi Sinha,

I dont have a MDI panel because may system is an openCNC. The MDI keys are softkeys on the Screen Display Function application.
There is a graph key and I get into the graphics screens, but there is no display of the path. There is an EXECUTE softkey and behind this one I can select AUTO or RUN, but no action occurs.
I tried to adjust parameters like colors etc. but no change.

Run an actual machining program, and while it is cutting material, press the GRAPH key. Toolpath should appear on the graphic screen.
Toolpath without actual tool movement is the next step.

OK, that's what I need to do next.
For running a program, I need however to install first the amplifiers. This brings up the need for a 400V line down to my room because I can't do the testing in a workshop right now. It will take some time....

Thanks
Uli

Hi Sinha,

after installing the amplifiers, the graphics work fine.
However, it seems not to work without them.

In the Servo Motor Parameter Manual I found a section 'Serial feedback dummy functions' with some details of dummy axis.

I'll try to move forward on this path.

Thanks
Uli

Toolpath plotting without actual tool movement is referred to as "Dynamic Graphic Display" by Fanuc. They offer it as an option. However, even without this option, one can execute a program in "Program Test Mode" for a similar result.
