FANUC OM ADDS EXTRA LINES UPLOADING TO COMPUTER

WHEN WE SEND TO THE MACHINE, THE CODE GOES IN FINE

WHEN WE SEND BACK TO THE COMPUTER, IT LOOKS GOOD ON THE COMMUNICATION PROGRAMS SCREEN, BUT WHEN I OPEN THE CODE IN AN EDITOR THERE ARE 2 BLANK LINES BETWEEN EACH LINE OF CODE

THEN WHEN I SEND BACK TO THE MACHINE THERE ARE 2 EOBS BETWEEN EACH LINE OF CODE

USING 4800 7 EVEN 2

DO THE WINDOWS PORT SETTINGS HAVE TO MATCH THE COMM PROGRAMS SETTINGS, ALTHOUGH I SET THEM AND IT DIDNT AFFECT THIS PROBLEM

ITS A SUPERMAX VERTICAL WITH A FANUC OM CONTROL

USING A PROGRAM CALL SIMPLE TERM FOR COMMUNICATIONS

THANKS

It sounds as though Simple Term is adding characters at the end of each line. You might need to reconfigure something in it.

A carriage return and line feed character are commonly placed at the end of every line in a regular text editor. But those characters are not printable. Still, the machine controller sees them, and it deals with them in some defined way.

If the machine puts in a semicolon at the end of every line, and sends those when it is exporting the file, then your comm software needs to interpret what to do with what is essentially two invisible machine characters and the semicolon. I think that is why you see the extra spaces, because of some sort of an interpretation by your comm software, as to what to do with the semicolon. It is duplicating the effect of the carriage return, the line feed and the semicolon.

Agree with last post. Make sure cr,lf,lf is not set. Some programs only like the cr, some with one cr and lf. The old tape settings were the only ones I remember that liked two lf (line feed)

Check parameter 0070 bit 7.

1 : EOB is punched out as “LF" when punching with IS0 code.
0 : EOB is punched out as “LF” “CR” “CR” when punching with IS0 code.

I would suggest that you look at NCNet Lite or some other free CNC communications app. You can download it at:

DNC – wireless and wired, Free DNC for 1 machine

I have the same issue........

Don't mean to hijack this post but I have the same issue with extra lines coming back. What's weird, I use Bobcad to receive nc files because there are no extra lines coming back from machine but when I use Master Cam communications I get the extra line. Both my PC comm settings are the same so this is something I have dealt with for years. I remember back when the company I worked for used Pathtrace cad/cam and we had the same issue. We messed with parameters and PC settings and never really knowing what we did. I do remember using Norton editor to open up the nc file and you could see "control j's" at the end of line. You couldn't see them in a normal text but in Norton editor you could and after they were removed the nc file went back in the text editor and machine tool just fine. I don't know if I've shed any light on this matter but I find this something I wont dig into as long as things are ok with Bobcad receiving. Alot of people slam them but there are many things I like about it.
