Hi all, I am trying to use my Dell laptop to download G-code programs to our 10M based vertical mill with no success, perhaps someone can point me in the right direction. Setup: I made a 3 wire serial cable as per the pinout I found on the web. On my laptop I am running Hyperterminal 4800-1-E Xon/Xoff. I am assuming this arrangement is functional because when I "punch" all parameters from the 10M I see them scroll through on the hyperterminal window. The only weird thing is each line lacks a CR but has a LF, so the data walks diagonally across the screen, perhaps this indicates a setup issue...??? I resolved the "write protect" error; memory switch in protected position. I added a program number to my file (O0000) and semi colons to each line( , now when I try to "transfer text file" it echos on the hyperterminal screen but does nothing on the 10M. Oh forgot to mention the 10M setup, I put the control in EDIT mode, press the PROGRAM softkey, then READ, 1PRGM and finally NEW. Fanuc 10m indicates no program. My program is just: O0000; G00X1.0Y1.0Z1.0; Any thoughts would truly be appreciated because I certainly don't feel like keying in all my program lines!!! Thanks, Mike |

| Try using Cadem DNC – wireless and wired, Free DNC for 1 machine. Hyperterminal is a PITA. If you PM me a email add, I can send the Fanuc manual for the 10. Al.

I added missing "%" at the beginning and end of my simple test program, also changed hyperterminal to include a LF and now I get some sort of response from the 10M: SR591 TV ERROR Looking through the manuals now for error code explanations... Mike |

In my test g-code file I had placed a space before the semicolon in each line, deleting that space seemed to make the 10M happy. So now my little test program displays on the 10M screen, ironically it appears as though there is a space before each semicolon. Al thanks for your response, I will check out the CADEM you recommended, in no way am I thrilled to use hyperterminal, it was just already on my laptop... MSA |

| Make sure you have TV =0 and ISO =1 in the control, BTW, the PDF I have is the RS232 man for the 10. Al.
