GE Fanuc 160 M

Dear All,

We have got a Oerlikon (Germany Make) Tester Model T22 Machine with GE Fanuc 160 M Controller

When machine is switched ON, after memory check machine stops with Error 162 : Configuration Error occured

Please find below our observations/actions so far :

During booting when we press F1 to enter into Setup, then under System Summary , we find that Hard disk drive 0 is not installed

Similarly under IDE Setup, we find Hard drive Not installed, where in case of Floppy drive, it is correctly getting recognized by the system and we can find

Floppy drive as 1.44MB 3.5 inch

a) we have tried to replace MMC IV PCB with new one (Same Fanuc part Number)

b) We have replaced Hard disk with similar one

Still Hard disk is not getting recognized, we are able to access floppy drive through this MMC IV PCB

Status Lights on this MMC IV PCB is similar to other similar running Tester machines

By using USB 2.0 external HDD enclosure, we connected both these Hard disks and they are getting recognized in a desktop when connected HDD enclosure thro USB

c) Pressed F1 during booting to enter Setup BIOS: loaded default data.then Saved and reboot

In CNC Mode, under Diagnostics MMC IV,

DGN 512 00001100
DGN 513 10110000

Please find below status of the machine :

We have connected external Keyboard with Mouse to MMC IV (to go to BIOS and check related details in it)

a) When we switch ON the machine, then after memory check gets over, booting stops with Message POST Start up Error 162 Configuration error has occurred

Continue or exit setup, sometimes we get a picture which is having keys F1 to F12 (Similar to Keyboard and 2 blinking arrows on F1), we entered BIOS by pressing F1, Load Default Data, Save Settings, Exit, Press Enter to save settings still same problem

Emergency stop, Drive ON Lamps etc blink as it should happen in OK machine

b) If we press , CNC/MMC key on keyboard, screen changes to Fanuc Screen and in this screen everything seems normal

c) We r able to open/close door, clamp and unclamp Ring Gear and Pinion, Reference axes etc that means everything is normal in CNC mode

d) If we press CNC/MMC key again to switch over to MMC screen then blinking cursor appears on screen instead of Oerlikon (MTB) screen

e) On MMC IV, LED 4 on Status Row is ON and LED 1 in Status Row of Main CPU is ON, LEDs on Alarm not ON - This is similar to other OK Tester Machines.

Machine function is normal except that MMC (Oerlikon screen ) is not coming up

a) In Case of other OK Machine In this machine

DGN 510 00110000 00110000
DGN 511 10010011 00000000
DGN 512 00001100 00001100
DGN 513 10110000 10110000

That means DGN 511 is different, as per Fanuc Manual DGN 510 and 511 indicates internal MMC IV information (not available to general users)

b) Presently when we switch ON, just "Loading Basic to DRAM" appears and vanishes and then nothing appears on screen, Machine gets ready and if we press CNC/MMC key then it changes over to CNC and everything is normal in CNC screen

c) We checked cable continuity between Main CPU and MMC using Digital Multimeter and found alright.

Kindly advice for difference in DGN 511

Now when we switch ON the machine, after memory check, we find a diagram on screen which indicates, keyboard (F1 to F12 with blinking arrow on F1), on top of this keyboard is seen a Floppy and on top of floppy, we find Floppy drive, arrow indicates to put Floppy in Floppy Drive and if we are correct then System is trying to boot from Floppy

a) Under Start Options, 1st Startup device Diskette is Drive 0 and 2nd Startup device is Hard disk 0, by using left or right arrow of external Keyboard, we are unable to change 1st startup device to Hard Disk 0

Kindly go thro all the points mentioned above and let us know why Hard disk is not getting recognised with MMC IV in the machine ???????

What is the relevance of DGN 511 ?????????

Sir do u suspect problem could be due to PC Card (486) plugged in MMC IV CPU as we dont have spare of this card

If MMC CPU with Hard disk of other Tester Machine is put in this machine, machine becomes alright

Kindly go through all the points mentioned above and give us ur advice

Eagerly waiting for ur advice.

Best Regards,

M. Rishikesh
