This is not an uncommon problem and most of the time it is a failure in the "PCMCIA Cable", as FANUC refers to it. This assembly consists of the PCMCIA socket, the short length of mylar cable and then a connector at the other end. Even if you don't have visible bent/broken socket pins, it can sometimes develop an internal connection failure. Replacing this PCMCIA Cable usually corrects the problem.
There are 4 different PN so you need to get the correct one. The newer controls have the PN marked on the concealed side of the cable. The older ones do not have the PN listed. If you unplug it and cannot see the PN, call FANUC and they should be able to identify the PN and sell you the replacement part. It would help to have the CNC Serial No. or the high level A02B-xxxx-xxxx PN of the display unit when you contact them so they can break it down. |
