Hi Bill, I always put the switch at MDI before swiching the power off. Before the machine went off, on MDI program display , it shows tool number in the spidle as T1 , next tool as T2, etc After power on, still at MDI display, the tool number in the spindle T1 disapeared, Next tool shows T2 , etc So only the information about the tool number in spindle is gone, all others are there If I switch to auto and press cycle, alarm goes on said that I have to check the tool number. If this happen I just push the feedhold, switch to MDI, input T1 M6 for example, start, and then everything is normal my machine is first mcv 300 / sharp sv2412 previously with 0imc , they put tool information on external LED tool display, but this time with 0imd, they put the tool display on LCD screen I will take a picture on friday ( tomorow is holiday here ) Jon

Can you post the part of the program that is giving you the alarm as Bill had asked for? It sounds like where you are trying to re-start the program you have no information of what tool you have. IOW there is no tool call in the program where it is alarming out. How long is your lunch? Is there a reason that you power down the control when going to lunch? I can see over night but for a 30-60min?? I ass u me that you get the same problem when you come to work the next day after powerdown overnight? Stevo

Even when restarting a program without the power being withdrawn from the machine, its good practice to allow the control to read the tool number again and not relying on it maybe still being in the spindle. There are some machines that object to this. I've seen a few machines that will generate an alarm if the Spindle tool is called, but most machines today have good tool change routines that look to see if the called tool equals the spindle tool, and if so, quits the tool change program. For members of this forum to give you any help, I'd suggest that you post your program so that it can be seen how your program is structured. The program snippet you've provided tells us little, except that the three slides are being sent to the Machine's Reference Return position at the end of the program; what relevance does that have to your problem? What is the error being displayed when you don't input the T number via MDI? Regards, Bill

In the fanuc1.jpg, the blank T would display the number of the last T read by the program... if one had been read. Since you just powered-up the machine, no T code has been read. The same is true for S and F if display of those was turned on. If you run a program after power-up with a G01 move but no F code active, you'll also get an alarm. Same for the spindle; if you command an M03 with no S code active you'll either get an alarm, or the spindle won't rotate. So, as steveo1 suggested, post the program here and maybe we can help you.
