Exclamation FANUC 6M PROGRAM SENDING...

I need help guys. When I send a program from the controller to the pc, everything is there except the (EOB. How do you stop this? Also when I try to send a program from the pc to the controller it gives me a Alarm 86 ( signal level of RS232C interface was incorrect). I also dont know how to change the settings or paramaters, input device 1 is set to 0 and nneds to be at 1. How do I change settings and parameters? Thanks in advance for the help.

Buy me a Beer?

You need to use the 3 wire cable with the hardware handshake pins jumpered out as per the PDF's to get rid of the 86 error.
The PC S/W needs to be set to include a CR/LF when and end of line is seen.

Alarm 086 is generated because the DSR is low. In a cable configured for software handshaking the DSR line is held high by a bridge from the DTR (pin 20), the DCD (pin 8) MAY be required by very picky systems and will do no harm in any case. The DCD connection can be omitted. Therefore, the cable configuration is as follows:

Machine Side-------------------------PC Side
DB25 Male----------------DB25 Female-------DB9 Female
2------------------------------3----------------2
3------------------------------2----------------3
4
| bridged
5

6
|
8 all bridged
|
20

7------------------------------7----------------5

On the controls main board there is a Parameter Write Enable switch, its at one of the corners of the board. You have to switch it to the write enable position. When this switch is set to write enable, error 100 will be displayed, this is normal. Parameters can now be changed using the MDI mode.

Check and set the following parameters.

Parameter 311 = 10 for 4800 baud rate (suggested starting point)
Parameter 340 = 2
Parameter 341 = 2

Machine Control Set Page Settings
I/O = 1
ISO Format = 1

After the parameters have been set, switch the PWE switch on the main board back to the Write Protect position. Press reset to extinguish the alarm.

Regards,

Bill

Exclamation how do you change parameters?

I switched the write enable on, but how do I change the parameters? I go to parameter 311, and try to punch in 00011000, it only alows me to puch in 0001 on the screen and I try hitting INPUT, and it wont change it. I am in MDI. Is there another screen where you change, input the numbers? I also went to change the input device #1 to 1, and it wont change it, maybe I am not hitting the right buttons?

Thanks,
Joe.

According to the 6M-B manual:

(a) Set the selector switch on the master P.C.B. to ENABLE
(b) Set the mode switch to MDI
(c) Press the [PARAM] button
(d) Keying in N and parameter number to set and pressing the [INPUT] button, selects the page of that parameter and moves the cursor below the number (the [PAGE] button and the [CURSOR] button can also be used).
(e) Key in P and data to be set ind press the [INPUT] button. When you are aware of an error during keying-in, press the [CAN] button.
(f) Check whether the data was set correctly.
(g) Turn the PARAMETER WRITE switch on the master P.C.B. to DISABLE after all parameters were set and confirmed.
(h) Press a [RESET] button to release alarm status (number 100).

Is there a % and CR/LF at the end of your program?
