Anyone make a Handy file like device???

I'm looking for a Fanuc Handy file like device. The boss does not want to wire, or go wireless and our old laptop we use crapped out on us. We need a portable unit to transfer files only (we have 3 machines that use rs232 and 8 that we use compact flash on) so we need a cheap solution other wise we have to find another laptop.

Pick up an IBM A22m ThinkPad off ebay from reputable seller.
They have all the ports etc you need for shop floor work, floppy, RS232, Parallel,USB, CD, PCMCI etc.
They can be had for $50~$75, I just picked up one in mint shape.
They are not that much larger than a Handy File.

You might also consider something like an HP Ipaq 3630 Pocket PC and the PocketDNC software with cable. You can get the HP on ebay as well for $25 or so quite often, but the software and cable (Pocket DNC for CNC Machinists) goes for $150 still. The nice thing about this option is you can put the Ipaq in your backpocket...

Anyone know if Pocket DNC is still available? I tried downloading the trial version and submitting email for activation code and got no response... email to support has gone nowhere so far as well.

Wow, I guess they've closed up here in N.A. Looks like they still offer a similar deal in the UK (Pocket DNC for CNC Machinists) but it comes with the handheld and is 999 pounds!!!

Hey, it seems to be working out okay anyway; I followed your new link to the UK site I sent them an inquiry and received a very prompt and courteous reply directing me to an evaluation copy of the software-only version that should work on the ol' PDA. I probably won't have a chance to try it until next week sometime but it's not a dead end yet. Thanks for the help.
