Set up for Dead Length Collet Closer

Hi,
I have had a regular collet nose on my machine"Pull to close" and the Bar pull program bellow has worked just fine.

N1(.437 BAR PULL-HARDINGE PULLER)
M5
G00T1105
G00X.8
Z-.622
X0
M69 (Chuck Unclamp)
G98
G1W.475F20.0
M68 (Chuck Clamp)
G99
G00X.8
Z2.0
T1100
M01

Now however I have a Dead Length collet nose"Push to Close" and am running into problems. I modified the previous bar pull program by changing the M68 and M69 Cuck clamp and unclamp commands but the program will not run through without fiddling with the "Chuck Unclamp Check on Inward Mode proximity switch as noted bellow

N1(.437 BAR PULL-HARDINGE PULLER)
M5
G00T1105
G00X.8
Z-.622
X0
M69 (Chuck Unclamp)
G98
G1W.475F20.0 ------( The control hangs at this point with the panel indicating unclamped and the PX2 switch LED on. I then have to move the PX2 switch until it clears and the controll procedes)--------
M68 (Chuck Clamp)
G99
G00X.8 -------(The controll hangs at this point with the panel indicating clamped and the PX2 switch LED off. I now have to move the PX2 switch again and the controll continues on through the rest of the program with no issues.
Z2.0
T1100
M01

Is there some kind of mode selector for the control to understand that I am using a push to close rather than a pull to close? I am at my wits end.

Thanks
Geoff

I do swiss style lathes for a living and all they use is dead length collet closers . What seems to be the problem? where does the entire process stop? is it on the collet close conformation signal ? or is the process not working on the machine. if its a signal issue why couldn't you swap the signal inputs? I might be able to help, if I can get a better understanding of why it doesn't work, and were the process is stopping

sorry I forgot to ask does your machine have a ID chucking feature ? You might try to change to ID chucking instead of OD chucking

Hi,
As far as I can tell there is no ID Chucking feature on this lathe. It is a DAEWOO PUMA 8HC-3A with a FANUC 15T Control.
I have used the Chuck in ID Clamping work but that was just one part at a time and manualy chucked parts.

When I try to run the program the machine is set up for full automatic operation, Chuck clamped (Draw bar pushed out and collet chuck closed light on the control is lit). I push the cycle start the bar puller moves into place on the material the collet opens and that is where it stops with the currsor on the program screen on G1 right after the G98 comand. at this point the collet chucked lamp on the control is out.
To go farther I have to loosen the PX2 Chuck Unclamped Check On Inward Mode Proximity Switch until the LED Light on the switch goes out (indicating Clamped and the control makes the next move to draw the material out and clamp then it stops with the program cursor on the line right after the G99 Command. then I need to fiddle with PX2 proximity switch again.

Thanks
Geoff
