I am working on a Fanuc 10M. Previous to my current problem, I could send programs in READ or drip feed in TAPE from a Vista computer with a USB to serial adapter and a Windows XP 'puter with a serial port. The Vista with adapter would have odd glitches (I could elaborate if you wish), but the serial port 'puter would feed flawlessly. One day something went awry with the send/receive chips on the control and I couldn't communicate. The chips were replaced, but now only the Vista with aforementioned USB to serial adapter will communicate properly. The XP with serial will send, but the program doesn't show up on the control. I have checked the BAUD rate, etc. |

| One of the things to watch for or be aware of, is to try and use a 120v outlet on the machine, often fed off the M/C control circuit, instead of a nearby 120v outlet to power the PC. The reason being that there should be no potential difference on the ground conductors between machine and PC. Which if using the local machine supply should prevent any difference. Al.
