I have a CMS router with a Fanuc 160i - MB control on. A couple of weeks ago the screen started getting vertical lines from top to bottom in the windows screen and through parts of the control screen when it boots up. I brought this to CMS to diagnose and they are pretty sure that it is the pc card, but they explained to me that Fanuc has stopped selling some boards to them (an OEM) due to "weapons of mass destruction possibly being produced from certain Fanuc components". I thought that they were pulling my leg. Unfortunately, they were not, and explained that I am going to have to call Fanuc America and have them get the part that Fanuc's technician is going to have to install.
I called Fanuc America and confirmed this with them. Certain components MUST be sold and installed only by Fanuc America.
Has anyone else run into this? Why is it only Fanuc as far as I can tell. I dont see Siemens or Osai or other companies with this same "problem". |
