    Fanuc 18i Position switch function

I'm installing a machine and the machine will allow the axis to crash into the tool carousel. Normally the builder sets this up in with the position switch function.(Parameter 6901-6999) These parameters are set with some values and typically if you moved the axis into the tool change area it would set an overtravel alarm. This is not the case.

Does anyone have an explanation of how this works and how to set it up?

I have never used that function, but reading through it it seems to imply that if a 10 posn switch is input to the PMC the switch position will select the axis and minimum/maximum position of that axis by parameter?
How far did you get with testing it this way?

In which manual are you reading from? I have the parameter manual, operators manual, and the connection function manual.

The only 18i manuals I have are for the 18iL & P, the parameters are all 5 digit instead of 4?
I checked the regular 18 manual and it shows what appears to be the same description as you have, the only thing is that 6901 only shows valid entry for the first (least significant bit) IGP being 0 or 1, (bit entry rather than byte for this address)?

    Fanuc 18i Position switch function

They have assigned F70.0, 1, 2, 3 to switches 1-4 after further checking the F address is not in the ladder they are assigned but were not used , so I think this is the problem.
