Ok, I bought this HItachi-Seiki Lathe with a fanuc 10te-f controller. When I power it up, the screen says, imput search for a couple seconds then it comes back with no signal. I bought this machine NOT under power, so I didnt have a clue what the status was on it. Anyways, I started lookin in the two controll panels, in the circut boards to see if I can see where a board was missing. I took some photos, of the controller cabnet, and I think, there is a board missing. I beleive it is one that snaps into the existing circut board, next to the add memory ones? Can someone look and see if they see which board is missing, and what the part number might be so I can try to source one? THanks.
According to my 10TF manual the first one would be an Option card, usually reader punch and possibly high speed skip.
The second is additional axis + additional memory
The third would be the conversational function.
The second card would be the minimum, I believe?
You could be missing the PMC cassette? do you have a slot marked CAS to the left?

I am heading to the shop now and I will look if it says CAS. Could this be a card missing that would cause the controll to say no signal?
I don't recall exactly, but some Fanuc's that do not have the PMC (ladder) burnt into eprom, use a ROM cassette to read the ladder off into memory at boot-up.
Is there no response at all on the screen or any other message of any kind.
Actually I think I see the vacant CAS socket in your pic.

Yes I do see a CAS slot, second from the left? Do you have a part number on this card?
I bought this machine, it came out of GARRETT turbocharger facility, and it had a tag that was partially ripped off that said, "parts missing, parts sent off for repair" and thats all it said. SO now I am trying to locate that missing part, so I can get the machine back up and running. Thanks so much for your expertise help!
Unfortunately the cassette on its own will not help, if that is the problem, the OEM writes the ladder logic into it when the machine is commissioned, if you buy a new one, it will be blank.

When I power it up the CRT only says, "imput search" then after a couple seconds says "no signal"
Digit 7 is not even on the list, it mentions that any other value is System Error - Replace master PCB, NC s/w ROM or ROM PCB.
If the cassette IS missing or required, this contains all the external machine operation functions, including operator panel, tool changer, and all outboard functions.
It is written in a form of boolean logic called ladder logic because of the ladder nature it is displayed, for more info you could google.
I am not sure if Hitachi-Seiki would be of help now in obtaining the ladder on this age of control.
Another option is to remove the MB and cards and send in for an evaluation to a repair outfit.

I can see where there were screws in the holes where the cassete should of been.
Ok, here are some photos with the machine turned on:
That appears to be a J on the 7 segment display,if so, J is PMC RAM is not mounted.
I show the PMC RAM cassette as A20B-1000-0910 for the 4000 step PMC.
Or A20B-1000-0920 for the 16000 step.
I have got them cheap on ebay, but it has to have the OEM ladder loaded into it.

How do I know if I need the 4000 Step PMC or the 16000 Step? Is there a way to verify it has the oem ladder loaded into it?
If your lucky you might still be able to get the ladder redone at the MTB's factory or service centers or get them to send you a copy of the ladder and get one of the experts to program it for you.
You still have about 3 slots open. I would see if you could add any factory options and boards. Your manual should show you what goes in the othe
You might see if Hitachi Seiki still has copies of their ladder diagrams for your model and/or serial number, or find someone with a similar machine with the 10TE-F control.
I would locate the PMC cassette for your machine. They are not terribly expensive on eBay.
You could also try Mori Seiki or Hamilton Bond in the USA. Mori bought the res of Hitachi Seiki.
