Your cable should be as follows:

(CNC) (PC)
DB25M <-------------> DB9F

1 <--------- shield --- (no connection)
2 <--------------------> 2
3 <--------------------> 3
7 <--------------------> 5
4 & 5 jumpered CNC end only
6, 8 & 20 jumpered CNC end only <---- this should eliminate SR820 and SR821 alarms

I don’t know exactly what causes this particular alarm but I had it a few weeks ago. I thought it had something to do with the handshaking line. Anyway it ended up being a blown port on the Base0 board and I had to replace it. I was out of town at the time but worked with the tech over the phone and that resolved the problem. We had a storm and I blew 3 ports on 3 machines. Luckily I had 2 spare ports on the machine already that I switched over to on 2 machines. The 3rd had both ports blown.

PM Dan Fritz and see if he can jump in and lend a hand. I know he has been busy because I only got 1 response via email from him and every time I called he was out of the office but it may be worth a try if he has time.

I am inclined to agree with you setvo. I am wondering if I could us a ginder adapter and
plug into the cable that goes to the tape reader. It goes to mother board port.

I am not sure. I did some time ago have to use the 20pin Honda connecter on the mother board because the port blew. All I had to do was the pinout and then switch the device being used in the parameters. I am not sure about your machine but this was done on a fanuc 10tf control.

By pin outs I guess you mean the pin location will need to be checked . I have A connection man
for 10 /11/12 controls If I can just make out what it all means-----

By pinout I mean the wiring that is needed for the 20pin Honda connector to the DB25 RS232 cable. Attached is for the fanuc 6 series. I believe this is what I used when I connected my 10 series.

Buy me a Beer?

If you jumper the 4-5 & 6-8-20 and still get the alarm, it could be the RS232 IC's which can be easily obtainable & replaced.
If you want the 10/11 RS232 manual, PM me an email address.

Al,
How easy is this really to do? I was out of town at the time the Base0 board was replaced but I was talking to the Fanuc tech on the phone when he was here and he could not replace them. He tried and failed so the board had to be replaced. I am just curious as I have never seen, attempted, or heard on how difficult it is.
