Spindle macro register Fanuc 16i

Machine is a Matsuura H-Plus 300 using the 16i controller.
I am looking for the macro register for the current tool in spindle. I was told that it is #4120 but that is the register for the last T#. I use pre staging in the programs so #4120 does not work for my purpose.
I tried the search but did not find my answer. Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance.

Edit the tool change macro so that you capture #4120 and assign this to another variable e.g. #500.
#500 will then always contain the t code of the last tool loaded via the tool change macro.

I will explore that option but the problem will be finding a variable that does not get overwritten ever. I am using Renishaw probes and they use a good majority of them at one time or another.
Thanks for the input.

#4120 does not get updated by manual tool-change, on Fanuc machines. You have to live with it, unless the MTB provides a way.

You can go through some of your macros and do a search by typing the variable number and search. This may not cover all of them but it will get you close to one that is not being used.

As Sinha has stated if you do a manual tool change then your variable will not update. The MTB may have set up a system variable to track the current tool in the spindle. You will have to look in the manual or setup a program to capture the current state of the system variables and see if one matches the current tool.

What do you want to use it for. We may have a differnt idea/workaround?
