Somehow I've got lowercase letters on my Fanuc 18M, it wasn't that way last night. I've seen this before and had to shut down the controller to get caps back... I'm sure it just a combination of keys to get it but I don't know what it is and the nightshift guy is still asleep... And the manual is missing. There is no key that looks like caps lock. I'm trying to call a program from the data server and I need a capital O else I get format error... Thanks Rob |

| With the Data Server, parameters 13113, bits 4 and 5 permit use of special / lowercase characters. If they are set to 1, you will see a soft key that is labeled CHA-EXT. Press the ABC/abc soft key to toggle between uppercase and lowercase key entry. |

| Thank you for the quick reply. I don't see that softkey [CHA-EXT] In data server it shows {<--][GET][PUT][DELETE][SEARCH][CHANGE] [-->] The problem resolved itself, as I went into MDI to load another tool. and when I tapped the PROG button and got to the [DS-DIR] softkey it must have reset itself. I'm sure I just "fat fingered" a couple of keys at the same time to cause the change to lowecase in the dataserver. EDIT: I don't see a Parameter 13113, I've attempted to turn on mirroring before but got lost and gave up, so I never mess with Parameters. on a side note I love the mirror program feature on my A2100 control and use it often, but I guess that's an paid option on Fanuc |

| I fat fingered one of my own. It is parameter 13115 (not 13113) as I stated. However, it does depend on what exact model of CNC you have. Here's what I found in the Fast Eth/Data Server manual for changing case: Entering lowercase characters The following describes the method for entering lowercase characters. Procedure 1 Place the CNC in MDI mode. 2 Display the "Ethernet Parameter" screen. 3 Position the cursor to the desired item by using the cursor movement keys. 4 When soft key [LOCK] is displayed, the characters entered using the MDI keys are in uppercase. To enter lowercase characters, press soft key [LOCK]. Soft key [LOCK] then changes to [UNLOCK]. In addition, "LOCK" is displayed on the screen. 5 Then, all the characters entered using MDI keys "A" to "Z" will be in lowercase. |
