JD5A is channel 0 and 1 JD5B is channel 2 for the RS232.
I don't see an option parameter for this.
Do you have the parameter manual?
Al.
I'm working on a Fanuc 16-TTA that has a dead serial port.
I'd really like to know how to turn on the optional second serial port (marked RS232-2 on the main board).
Right now if I set IO channel to 2 or 3 and try to READ or PUNCH nothing happans (no LSK, no error messages, nothing).
I'm assuming in order to use the second serial port I will have to enable an option parameter, then use IO channel 2, correct?
Thanks,
Alex.

I have a 16-C parameter manual which is pretty close (this is a 16-A)
If I set the IO channel to 2 and channel 2 device # to 0, and try to READ or PUNCH, nothing happens.
I talked with the fanuc people and they said that the second RS232 port is an option (but of course wouldn't give me the option parameter to turn it on).
Check your PM's.

Hi Al_The_Man,
Last week we purchased morseiki mf6 which has Fanuc 16MA. I am able to take backup of parameter and programs as well.Machine is running fine.
Today i wanted to check RMT (DNC)function. When i connect and start the cycle start button, On the screen LSK is blinking but not able to read the program.
After this i wanted to trasfer a part program from pc to cnc.I could not transfer.I used JD5A to take backup. When i use JD5B nothing happens.
Please let me know any parameter or procedure.
Thanks in advance.
