It seems that the rs232 port is dead on my 11m Mitsui Seki. I recall that there are a couple of IC's that have a tendency to blow. (sn75188,189) I thought there was a way to switch over to device 2 but can't remember how. I can swap over the param's to device 2 but is there a physical connection i have to switch on the mother board? THX |

the second port is an optional port you cant just set the parameters you need the special option bits. |

| Well it turns out that this machine has two i/o boards. Device 2 is behind the tape reader. So switching to device 2 requires a connection to the header on that board to my DB25 harness. I got the idea from the fact that if i hit read when the param's were set to device 2 i would get the dc off alarm. Telling me that there was no connection to that port. Just like when you forget to hook up the PC to the comm port before you hit read. That said device 2 is borked as well. The weird thing is when punching out of that port the comm tester shows data flowing but nothing comes out(or in for that matter) the other end. It has an old PTR. Is the light used to read the tape visible light as a opposed to IR? I can't see any light and the reader reads a few blocks of the tape then stops with a PTR not ready alarm. |

| The second port is set by user parameters. If you PM me an email add. I can send the manual. If you have the RS232 port on the operator panel it is a 20pin Honda plug that you have to cable out to 25pin (or 9 pin) D for the second port. Al.

| yo if your port is dead is because i think you conect a pc to the machine and you had 110v between the case of the computer and the ground of the machine. try to check this now and than put on the other device ,otherwise you will make dead also the second. are your 220v supply grounded? check is very important things for not damage the ports of the machine. GOOD LUCK! |
