Having problems with a supermax max 2 machine with a Fanuc O-M control. I am unable to set tool height or Dia offsets and cannot set fixture offsets as per the manual instructions. When G54 G90 G0 X0 Y0 is called, it will go to random positions and reset its zero. Will not respond to any command properly and will not operate the ATC. I'm thinking all the parameters are wrong, but do not know what they should be set at. Has anyone delt with this? |

Can you describe how you are setting the offsets? I haven't read the manual so I don't know what the procedure there is, maybe you're reading the Supermax manual also. Also, have you zeroed the machine? It sounds like you are inputting the string in MDI, so it should work fine if the machine is referencing the origin position.

Yes the machine is homed. The only display I can set as part zero is the realitve pos screen. If I record the machine pos X Y values for the G54 it will shift that amount instead of going to that machine postion. So the only way it will return to part zero is by leaving 0 values for G54. Also there is no Dia offeset page at all in the control. How are you supposed to hit dimensions this way? I've changed the parameters according to the book without any luck.. I'm trying to set it to tool offest memory C for separte tool length page and separte Dia offest page, but so for I am unable to do so.

It sounds like the machine is stuck in incremental positioning for some reason. I've had this problem on a 10M machine, but not on a 0M control. The offsetting for the TLO and diameter are done in the same table - atleast on the C versions that I have. I use offset register 1 for tool 1 for instance, which is called by the normal G43 H1 - and then for the diameter comp for that tool I would use offset register 21, called by the D21. Tool 2 uses H2 and D22, and so on. Sorry I can't help with the workshift problem - can't figure what that would be. Rgds, John

Thanks for the replies, I am using G90 in the program, and it sees the G90 in the current command screen... you're saying that it could still be in incremental? It will return to the proper XY part zero everytime but only if I don't use G54, however the Z0 does not repeat. it will goto whatever posistion I jog it to, regardless of what the realitve display says. As far as Dia offset goes, if I scroll down to register 21, it is still the height offset. There is no Dia register to use at all.

There may also be a G10 shift activated somehow. Honestly I don't know what it could be messing up the workshift. What you're seeing for the offsets is right. There is only one offset table, and they can be used however you want. You could use the register 1 as D1, and register 2 as H2, and call them for tool 3 in your program. The control just reads the number behind the letter and finds the correct field, then applies it in the correct way according to the letter. As far as I know there isn't an option on the 0m controls for another seperate page for diameter offsets (there isn't on the 10m either). Rgds, John John
