Fanuc spindle motor alarm 1

I recently worked on re-gapping the tach sensor on my model 8 spindle motor.
now when i power on the machine im getting the motor overheat alarm....the motor is cold. could i have damaged something in the process of tearing into the motor?

Most likely the over temp sensor leads are open somewhere.
There is a sensor buried in the motor windings with two leads coming out.

there are two wires coming off of the bz sensor cable that goes to the sensor. Ohm the varistor it should not read open or closed but rather give an ohm reading as the fanuc reads actual tempeture rather than just to hot. You can carefully replace these as they are attached to the actuall windings and often the cog wheel and rear bearing must be removed. Extreme caution must be used as if you slightl damage the cog wheel depending on which one you have it may be hard to get. The varistor can be attched with high heat rtv.

measure the 2 white wires.. they need to read 0 ohms or very close to it... if not then you need to figure out why..
