tread cutting on FANUC 0M

HI

i have a problem on V center with FANUC 0M on tapping cycle with G84.

when is making the thread cycle the machine goes about 2 mm up and than again down and after 2 mm of htread is going up again 2mm.
So my question is if is a parameter in thread cutting cycle for adjusting the distance for going up and down in cycle because i loose a lot of time when the tool go up so many times and so often i just want to make less steps to be more speed in the process.

so if somebody know what parameters are for tapping cycle.
is about the retract distance of the tool depending of the step of the thread,if the step is bigger the tool goes up more.

Thanks in advance.

Please show us your program. It sounds like it's peck-tapping. What version of the 0-M do you have (0M-A, 0M-B, etc.)

hi

i have a FANUC 0M-A

the program is:
T7 M6

(TOOL = 10-32 UNF H2 NO.0142401)

G0 G40 G49 G80 G90

G54 X0. Y0.

G68 X0. Y0. R2.5

G43 Z100. H07

G0 X16.662 Y0.

Z17.

M108

S100 F79.4 M3

M29 S100

(TAPPING----#10-32-UNF-3B)

(STEP=0.794)

G98 G84 Z-8. Q1.5 R17.

X0. Y16.662

X-16.662 Y0.

X0. Y-16.662

G0 G80 Z300.

M109

G69

M05

M01

The tool goes on the specified Z distance but is going back ~3mm and than goes again in.

i have to take out from parameters the retract of 3mm cause i loose time

maybe helps

Please some advise !

I believe the Q1.5 causes the problem. That would cause the Z to feed 1.5mm then reverse to break the chip. If you remove the Q1.5 it should tap all the way to the bottom then reverse out of the hole.

More info about peck rigid tapping (with reference to 0i control):

For peck rigid tapping, simply insert a Q-word in the usual syntax for the tapping cycles. Q is the peck length in mm. Absence of Q or specifying Q0 makes the tapping cycle work in the usual mode, i.e., without pecking. Set parameter 5200#5 (the sixth bit, counting from the right, of parameter 5200) to 0 for the high-speed peck tapping cycle (G73-type action), and to 1 for the deep hole peck tapping cycle (G83-type action). The retraction distance can be set through parameter 5213 (for both types of pecking cycles). Normally, the retraction (and the forward motion up to the specified distance above the tapping depth in the previous peck, in the deep hole peck rigid tapping cycle) is at the feedrate, but it can be made faster by enabling rapid retraction feature through parameter 5200#4.
