Question GE Fanuc Series OM Controller

Hi! I just got a drive unit repaired for a fourth axis (C) on a Komo VR1005 TT Router and need to check if it's working ok. I have never seen the fourth axis on screen, and from fanuccncamerica they told me which parameters change to enable the fourth axis. Now, I've tried to change them but I can't remember how to do so. I know it sounds silly, but can someone please guide me through this procedure? What should I do before changing the parameters? In edit mode or MDI, I can't get to change them! What am I missing?

Thanks a lot!!

Otto W.

You have to set the PWE bit to one. Doing so will cause an alarm which you can ignore until you have set the relevant parmeters.

Question Cannot see 4th axis displayed, servo drive not ready

Hi, thanks a lot for your replies. I've set the bit 12, made it 0, bit 1005, made it 0, and bit 1023 and made it 4. Turned off and on the machine, but there's no 4th axis, and the servo drive unit is showing the sign for "not ready". Tryung to see if it worked someway, I disconnected the unit, but there was no alarm or message on screen. Unfortunately, I have never seen this axis working in the machine (for the last 8 years) and I have no info regarding this problem.
Please help me!!
Thanks!

I am not sure what bits you are talking about. In my control, all of the critical bits are numbered 0 to 7. They are in addresses numbered 900 to 923 (or more, I am not sure). Is this a Fanuc 0MC?

On my control, I believe bit 5 of parameter 913 turns on simultaneous 4th axis control. Bit 3 of 907 is turns on additional axis control. I am not sure if these are correct as I have not yet tried them on my machine. I would guess you don't need simultaneous 4 axis control - most can live with three axes moving at one time. So I would leave 913 off initially.

Have you setup the servo parameters for that axis? If not you will need some manuals to do so.

9xx parameters

ok, this afternoon I found the 9xx parameters for the machine, so tomorrow afternoon hope to set them. Regarding the servo drives, I do have the manuals (series OM Controller) but I really couldn't tell that I can do a lot with them without any guidance. Would you guys advice that I change the drive unit before any procedure? How could I tell the difference from a good one, if I have never seen it working?
Thanks!

Otto-
I have not yet set up servos on my machine, though I plan to add a 4th as well. I have the Fanuc manuals for this task that include the maintenance manual, the servo motor description manual, servo motor parameter manual, both connection manuals, servo amplifier manuals and I am probably missing some. For those of us without Fanuc experience, quite a few manuals are needed. Good luck.

Question c axis enabled, but now shows alarm 1130

Finally, changing some diagnostic bits, I've enabled the 4th axis. It seems to work ok, but a couple of things bother me. When a program is running, a lot of rumbe appears after a few seconds, then the 1130 alarm goes off. The rumbling disappears by turning the machine off with an emergency button. Turning off and then on the controller, and there's no problem, but then again, when executing a program, rumble appears along with 1130 alarm. When in jog mode, or homing, the machine works ok, so I disabled the 4th axis again, and the problem was gone, as well as the fourth axis. Any ideas? what should I do now?
