Hi, Cheers for that, a lot easier than deciphering the dead sea scrolls, which in turn is easier than finding what you want in a fanuc manual... Now, is there any (easy) way to display the CURRENT VALUE of a variable WITHIN a (string), or WITHIN a (comment) using G2900? And is it possible to engrave the current date & time values using G1025? | Hello. What do you mean by string? I don't know what those G-Codes do, they must be set my the MTB. It is possible to read the date, then machine it. Its all about how you manipulate the data.

Hi, My quest for a while has been to find a way to incorporate current # values into on-screen (comments). I hoped this would be possible as I remember being able to do it on my old Amstrad CPC 464. The G-codes I refer to I assumed were relevant to all i series control. DP |

| Hello mate. No it's not possible display a variable value in a message wtih Macro B. It is possible using macro executor i think, but that's a whole new ball game. Those G-codes aren't standard to the i series, they are custom. What do they do?

Hi, G1025 is Engraving (under 'Special' Cycle Tab). Lets you position, orient and scale a (string). Hunting around I also discovered G1080 Embossing which looks half-complete. G2900 P1/P0 (comment) displays/clears comment in 'Current Machining'. Wanted to bring up specific values when running parametric macros so operator knows whats happening, but never mind... ![]() DP |

Hi, Yes, and its my only experience with Fanuc. I find it to be a very powerful user friendly interface - but I am now realising that it is not what most Fanuc operators are necessarily using, even those with recent controls. Coming from a mainly Heidenhain background, I am loving Macro B programming, and have been able to emulate Dynamic Offset Rotation and also combine Macro B with the new cycles/figures with great success eg forming rads on countour edges, and once milled a Turners Cube in 2 setups with 1 cutter and a 30 line program that only needed to know the initial cube size. Maybe I have too much time on my hands.... I am currently working on an all singing/all dancing cycle to allow me to helically mill polygons so I can enjoy more functionality with our 90deg head attachment. Great fun. | I have a 18ii-MB. Looking to put together the 18i-PB and -TB controls too. My 18i-M has a TON of options turned on. Send me PM with a program for a 18i Turners cube 1" x 1". I would like to see how you did it I am missing a lot of manuals for the 18i-MB & 18i-TB. If I am right I just have the 18i-MB operator manual. Greg |

| there is a way to send an "alarm" type message to the operator, look up macro system variable #3000 (i think) u use it something like this: #3000=5(Message); and the program alarms out with: "#3005 Message" check the syntax, thats from memory... and i don't know if your "message" can contain a #variable (i doubt it) but you can use conditional goto's if you're only trying to send a limited number of messages (ie if you don't need the value, but a pass fail, or a 1-10, or something) anyway, from the operator standpoint... you can "reset" to clear the message and "cycle start" to continue the program from the following block... possibly after switching block skip/opt stop on or off, or making another adjustment (macro variable, or the message can say "check your macro variables" and then you can switch to offset>+>macro and view/change variables...) we would all love an "interactive program" mode where the program could be interupted and interacted with (via softkeys ideally) but there is nothing like that i've ever seen... you have to get into macro executor options for anything close i think - gwarble |

Hi all, Right, if I can't easily display current values within a macro, the next best alternative would be for the programs in my system folder (o9000+) to be called while still displaying the 'parent' pgm, the same way the canned cycles behave. That way I can at least check all required arguments while the macro runs in the background. Is there any way to do this? DP |
