Red face Setting up a Fanuc 6T system

    Hi all
Just looking for a but of guidance with setting up my Lathe with a 6T Controller.
I'm have a issue of the G50 cmd not holding the correct location after you do a manual jog or handle operation. After doing a bit of hunting i found a post in this forum 'Absolute cords reset in handle mode'.
I'm wanting to know if my lathe is set up for abs or inc programming by default. What parameter address do i look at to find the setting of this data bit and what to change it to to set it to abs mode.

I tryed to run a G90 in the midi but that put's it into cutting cycle mode not ABS mode

    Cheers
    Snow

    Hi Snowie,

You have to set "1" DGN 104.1(ABS) by "Manual absolute"switch ON.
You can confirm at diagnosis screen.

    DIAGNOSIS
    NO
    104 * * * * * * 1 *

    Good luck!

No, you can't set this bit by G-code.
You can set by switch operatoin.

    Hi
Just checking bit 5 of address 104 is the H/L handle switch Correct??
Umm the next thing... How in the gigger do you change the setting to ABS from INC???
I don't have a "Manual absolute" Switch on the operators console. Is there a parameter i have to change?

    Hi
Lathe is a Ikegai AX-20N. I have alll the manuals Wiring diagrams. Fanuc programming manual and the Ikegai users manual.
I maybe stupid, but the Fanuc programming manual sucks majorly with descriptions. However it might be because the lathe is in INCR mode so that is why the cmd's arn't being processed.

    Parameters as requested
    address
    0000 10110110
    0001 01101101
    0002 11101010
    0003 10111000
    0004 00000000

    Cheers Snow

    Hi,
Could you send me electric circuit drawings and PLC ladder diagram?
You can command INC movement by U654.321 and W123.456,
and ABS movement is X123.456 and Z654.321.
    Good luck!

    Ikegai FX-20

    Snow,
Nice machine - Ikegai made a good product.
Fanuc controls should be set up to operate in the absolute mode normally. To program an absolute move after homing the machine use X and Z. To program an incremental move use the letters U and W. You can intermix them freely and might find it convenient to approach the part in absolute, then do the cutting in incremental, then go back to the turret index point in absolute. It is pretty straightforward after a few tries.
    Good luck.

    Hi all.
Thanks for your replys. Just an update. Sounds like a manual/ absolute mode problem. I'm having a guy to swing in to take a look. Apperantly the older machines don't have the switch on the operators console as mentioned before in this post. Will keep you posted
