11m issue on a Kuraki VMC

Hi, I have a VMC that has been sitting idle for a while. I've also been away from running machines for about 10 years, so I'm having to re-learn everything.

The issue I'm having is an alarm that I'm unable to clear when I power up the machine:

"EX013: Magazine counter missing".

I've gone through the related parameter here which my Kuraki book says to set the zero bit of parameter K16 to 0. I've done this, and attempted to reset the alarm, but the alarm persists.

I've check the proximity switches on the magazine (there are two of them) and they seem to be working (at least their indicators light when near metal).

Any suggestions on where to look? I was thinking that maybe there's a loose connection or some corrosion somewhere, or a bad relay. As I stated above, this machine has been sitting for a while without being run.

Thanks for any input you can give.

Have you tried to manually jog the magazine around? I had this issue recently and after jogging the mag the fault went away. You should also take a look at the counter table to make sure the data for the magazine size and current position are correct.

I can't manually jog the magazine until the alarm is cleared.

I'll check data to make sure that the current position, etc is correct.

The way I understand it, the machine "remembers" or keeps track of where it is in the magazine rotation and has two proximity switches which let it detect the direction and number of pots the magazine has moved the same way a rotary encoder does. Is this correct?

The machine is being moved today and Friday, so I'm trying to get as much info on this issue as possible before the weekend. I'd like to spend Saturday making the electrical connections and Sunday try to sort out the problem.

Thanks.

What is the model and serial number of the machine? I will look up some prints.

I have a Kuraki KV-700 3 axis VMC.
Serial # 8457
NC Rom # 2020G

From the Parameters Table:
Machine # 8457
NC # A-58343 7184010
March 9, 1986

From the Fanuc Data sheet:
Fanuc System 11MA controller:
model # A02B-0076-B202
Serial # 7184010
Contract # A 58343 -000
mfg date: July, 1986

I have the complete set of original documentation for the machine including the Programming manual, User Manual, PC Interface Manual, Ladder, Parts List, the Parameter Table, and the Data Sheets for the Fanuc system.

Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated.
