hi all ..i need help..
can i use pcmcia to usb adapter on fanuc 18imb control panel..? i want to use usb flash drive.. can i do that.?

As far as I know, the Fanuc will only recognize Compact Flash memory. Get a PCMCIA / Compact Flash adapter and an "old style" CF card. You can get a 32 MB Sandisk for around $10 from www.memorysuppliers.com

yes i now that..i'm olready use compact flash..but i want to use usb flash driver with pcmcia to usb adapter..can i do that..?

No...unless you are able to find a pcmcia-usb adapter which is 16bit. All, and I do mean all, modern pcmcia-usb adapters are actually what is known as cardbus which is 32bit, and won't fit in the pcmcia slot.

ı must find 16 bit pcmcia to usb adapter and usb flash driver...is it true..?

Have you successfully used a PCMCIA-USB adapter in a Fanuc PCMCIA slot or are you guessing? I'm pretty sure Fanuc's will only recognize Compact Flash (not SD, or XD or any other format). And, they sometimes fail reading newer CF cards at that!

Dcoupar is correct - the cnc can only read compact flash cards, with the correct voltage spec.

USB on a CNC will not go.

No I haven't, and the reason is the Fanuc slot is 16bit PCMCIA, and all USB adaptors seem to be 32bit Cardbus, which will not fit or work in the Fanuc slot. This is not even considering that if there were such a device, it would most likely need drivers which you have no way of installing in the Fanuc OS.
