8055 only accepts pim files?

I've a knee mill with an 8055 controller on an ethernet connection using ftp protocol to transfer files but it won't recognise anything but *.PIM files. How do I get from a solidworks part file or dxf to a .PIM?? Any help appreciated greatly.

Most likely through your Cam software, .pim is the file extension used by fagor for the g-code programs to be run by the controller.

Thanks

I see the missing link, now. Still coming up to speed on the whole cnc thing. Downloaded windnc and solved the problem.

Thanks again.

.PIM is just the for mat of file.

U just rename your CNC program file with number and the extension is .PIM

eg. 13456.pim

As some friends described, you must name your NC program file "XXXXXX.PIM" (eg. 123456, 711234). Don't use numbers like "8XXXXX" and "9XXXXX" because some important OEM files' numbers usually start with "8" and "9".

You can convert some simple ".dxf" drawings into G-codes via WinDNC but i should state that it's not so useful. I think it would be helpful only with some simple circle and rectangle engravings.

As Solidworks part files are basicly drawing files like AutoCAD's .dwg format, you can not use this directly in WinDNC.

As a result, your controller does not accept any of drawing files. You need to use a CAM software like Mastercam, Cimatron.
