    need help 8025TG screen rolling

I have a Fagor 8025TG control and the screen has started to roll vertically like an old TV set from the 60's. Is there an adjustment pot to correct this and if so where is it located?

I was told at Fagor the screens can presently be fixed. There is an LCD replacement on eBay. Don't know how well those work.

Would be nice if it was just an adjustment.

I just got my second machine with an 8025 control.

I would be interested in your progress with the monitor repair Dave, as I know sooner or later I will be rolling down that road.

The guy on eBay wants way to much money IMO for what he's selling. I don't know why another monitor could not be adapted to work. Here's some info on swapping out the Fagor with a universal:

"For the 8025 we use our universal 8.4" LCD monitor. Fagor says that their monochrome monitor is an 8" monitor, but it is actually a 7" Monochrome. Our LCD upgrade kit bolts on to the original frame (remove the CRT and electronics and screw on the new LCD where the CRT use to be). Our LCD is a little large, but there are size adjustments to reduce the viewable area to from 8.4" diagonal to 7" diagonal. We provide the video adapter cable, you may have to wire the power. The information that I have for the monitor is (which is no problem for our univeral LCD)-Display surface: 146 x 119 mm.Vertical sync: 50-60 Hz Horizontal sync: 19.2 KHz Note: Our LCD is setup for green, not amber. If you really prefer amber, we can setup to do that, but the amber is more of a redish amber."

Maybe a monitor such as this one would work:

JP- thanks for the info. I'm not going to jump into a repair at this point since it only rolls for a while when its warming up. I do second OP work with this machine so it doesn't run everyday. I'll live with for now and see what pops up down the road.

I forgot to ask but is the link to a screen that the EBay guy recommended or one you did some research on yourself?

The link was not recommended, I was just searching for options.

A universal display is what the eBay guys has and is a lot of money. I just think there are other ways to skin this cat for much less.

    yes there is an adjustment

it is usually silk screened with the word VR or V-roll next to the pot. You use a non-metal plastic screwdriver to fit inside the center of the pot.

There is also a h-roll and other adjustments on the monitor board as well. brightness too.

Somebody said a computer monochrome monitor would work--but it will not. Different kinds of signal for an ibm mono 9 pin connector compared to a ttl level monitor even if it has a 9 pin connector. Not sure of the technical name for the differences, but the ttl type is not compatible with PCs and cost more due to the economy of scale.

Sometimes this can be caused by the frequency parameter (P5) if it is set incorrect for the incoming power. I've also seen it caused by deteriorated components on the CRT controller board (flyback transformer, capacitors)

And I believe the signal is EGA
