Spindle motor operation

I would like to run the SPINDLE MOTOR without the belt, so I can verify that the SPINDLE itself is at fault, and not the motor.
So I have tried the s1500m3.1, but the motor only ran for a few seconds then shut down.
Any other ideas to get the spindle to turn on with out the spindle itself turning.
On a side note, spoke with Sue at Setco in regards to my spindle issue, very nice lady, and seems to know her stuff.

The problem most likely is that your software version is to old to suport the M3.1 code. In order to run the spindle solo will require a software update.

I have Advanced motion controls for the spindle drive, will that make a differance?

No, the M3.1 in resident in the 1610 module system operating board on the CPU.

Can this update been done by a NON factory service tech? Or will I need to call the local service, any idea as to the cost?

All you need to do is to change out the 1610 module and then it is a must that you ZERO memory. The RI command is not enough.
